It was a small group of 13 skiers who participated in this Fund Bank Ski Club trip to Whistler, BC, Canada. We stayed at Crystal Lodge which I think was a great location, only about a 5 minute walk to the Whistler Village Gondola. The rooms were recently renovated. Lodge had outdoor pool and Jacuzzi.
Although we did not have breakfast together, that’s when people usually make their plans of with whom to ski or where the best slopes are, it still worked out and I believe no one was left out.
Our week in Whistler was great: good snow, sunny and clear blue sky, temperature between 23 – 36 degrees. Only the last day it was cloudy and limited visibility on the mountain.
On the afternoon of the arrival a representative from Whistler ski resort gave us a presentation on the Whistler / Blackcomb ski area in the cozy lobby in front of their fireplace. That’s when the trip participants received their lift tickets. In the middle of the week the group had a group dinner at an Italian restaurant close to the hotel.
Our departure from Washington Dulles Airport was early on Saturday morning so we did not have any problem with the snow that came into the area in the afternoon. Our return trip was a little delayed about one hour and it was quite a bumpy ride. We all survived. No one was hurt on the trip.
Looking back I can say that everyone was happy with the trip in general, and weather and the snow conditions in particular.
